How to write a great 'Date My Friend' profile

The whole pitch of Flirtl is that a friend writes the page, not the single person. Friends notice the green flags a single person is too shy to claim. Here's how to write one that actually gets intros.

1. Pick three photos, not nine

One clear face shot, one full-body in normal clothes, one doing the thing they love. Skip group shots where strangers have to guess which one is your friend. Skip the wedding tux from 2019. The friend-vouched advantage is honesty — show the person their actual first date would meet.

2. Write green flags, not adjectives

"Kind" is an adjective. "Texts their mum every Sunday" is a green flag. Specifics beat superlatives every time. Aim for 3–5 short lines:

• Remembers what you said three weeks ago
• Cooks one absurdly good dish (it's the pasta)
• Will drive to the airport at 5am, no complaints
• Has read every Sally Rooney twice

If you couldn't picture your friend doing it specifically, cut the line.

3. The best first date is a scene, not a place

"Coffee" is a place. "A long espresso at the park, then a walk to the bookstore that stays open late" is a scene. Scenes are easier for someone to say yes to because they can already picture themselves in it. Bonus: it doubles as a vibe check.

4. Why you should date them — one paragraph

This is where most pages fall apart with generic praise. Instead, answer one of these:

• What's the weirdest thing they're really good at?
• What do their exes still text them about?
• What would surprise someone who only knows them at work?

5. Pick a tone and commit

Funny, romantic, roast, chaotic, serious. Mixing tones reads like a CV. Picking one reads like a person. If you're stuck — roast usually wins. People share what makes them laugh.

6. Get their blessing before sharing

The page is live the second you create it, so send your friend the draft first. The pages that get the most intros are the ones the friend co-signed, not the ones written behind their back. If anything ever feels off, anyone can tap Report and it's hidden instantly for review.
